The Burnt
Store Cruise scheduled for January 6-8 was postponed because of
high winds making conditions dangerous on Charlotte Harbor. Five
boats braved the cold weather and somewhat rough seas for the
event February 3-5. Two couples came by car to join us Friday
afternoon.
We did manage
to get in our Bocce Tournament, led by John and Bonnie Dent,
before it rained too hard. The winners were Ken Kelly, Wes Judd,
Shirley Hatter and Haroldine Scarpitta, who claimed she never
played before. That evening we had heavy hors d'oeuvres under
the Tiki Hut followed by a game of Left-Right-Center. The big
winner was Bonnie Dent.
On Saturday
the Blind Dinghy Races, to be led by Billy and Haroldine
Scarpitta, were rained out. So we just left earlier than
planned for Fisherman's Village. After lunch and shopping we
were driven back to our boats by co-leader Wes Judd. We were
joined by Vice Commodore Hal and Elaine Slaughter for cocktails
and hors d'oeuvres under the Tiki Hut. Co-leaders Nancy Judd and
Ed Hatter presented prizes. We then had dinner at Porto Bello's
Restaurant.
Before heading
home Sunday, the boater's met one last time to have a
continental breakfast under the Tiki Hut. Although it was cold,
the seas were calm for those who waited until later in the
morning to leave. A special thanks to Bob Fischer for being our
photographer. You can see his pictures on the RPYC web site at
www.royal-palm-yacht-club.org. Co-leaders Ed and Shirley Hatter
and Wes and Nancy Judd want to thank the Dents, Fischers,
Scarpittas, Fleegles and Kellys for making this a fun cruise.
