Un
Toque
un
Espana
(A
Touch
of
Spain)
was
the
theme
of
this
month's
RPYC
Wine
Club
dinner,
graciously
hosted
by
Peter
and
Linda
Partilo.
From
the
"inicio"
(appetizers
of
fruit
and
cheese)
paired
with
sparkling
Cordorniu
Brut
Pinot
Noir,
the
evening
was
a
delight
of
fine
foods
and
superb
wines.
The
first
course
of
"tapas"
provided
a
diverse
selection
of
flavors
of
small
servings
from
an
empanada
with
a
smoked
tomato
sauce
to a
peppered
scallop
with
white
truffle
oil.
Paired
with
a
white
Serra
da
Estrella
Albarino,
many
of
us
could
have
ended
our
dinner
repast
right
there.
But
no!
We
were
than
treated
to
a
very
fresh
and
spicey
gazpacho
as
the
"sopa,"
tempered
with
the
"intermedio,"
tart
lemon
sorbet
that
followed.
The
delicious
"entrada,"
the
main
course
of
lump
crab
cakes
and
port
tenderloin
with
accompaniments
was
paired
with
a
rich
red
Dinastia
Vivanco
Crianza.
It
all
ended
with
a
spectacular
touch
of
Orange
Flan,
paired
with
Torres
Orange
Gran
Liqueur.
Nathan
Northorp
of
Southern
Wine
&
Spirits
described
the
wines
as
we
enjoyed
them,
and
the
Partilos
added
special
touches
to
the
evening
with
their
authentic
and
appropriate
Spanish
phrases.
The
RPYC
chefs
and
servers
once
again
set
a
new
level
of
fine
food
and
service.
The
final
toast
says
it
all:
Salud
y
felicidad
para
todos
(Health
and
happiness
to
everyone)!
