| It was a gala evening in our new ballroom as the RPYC Chapter of the International Order of the Blue Gavel sponsored the Commodore’s Ball. Commodore Mar Guveiyian and her husband Charlie along with the President of the Blue Gavel Past Commodore Hal Slaughter and his wife Elaine jointly greeted the attendees. |

Cocktails
were
served
and
hors
de
oeuvres,
compliments
of
the
Blue
Gavel,
began
the
evening
in
the
Harbor
Lounge.
Capt
Jack
Brady
was
the
evening’s
Master
of
Ceremonies
and
he
introduced
each
Commodore
and
Mate
as
they
entered
the
ballroom.
Sergeant
Major
Vernon
Cook
and
the
Cypress
Lake
High
School
ROTC
Cadets
presented
the
colors
and
provided
a
crossed
sword
formation
to
add
to
the
ceremony.
The
group
has
been
a
part
of
this
RPYC
tradition
since
the
year
2000.
The
table
décor
is
traditionally
a
function
of
the
Past
Commodore’s
Mates
Auxiliary
and
this
year
the
tables
were
adorned
in
rich
blue
and
gold
with
roses
and
orchids
in
the
floral
displays.
The
results
were
elegant.
The
staff
provided
our
usual
outstanding
food
and
service
and
the
meal
ended
with
our
RPYC
famous
bananas
foster
in a
martini
glass
with
a
disc
of
milk
chocolate
in
the
form
of
an
anchor.
Great
entertainment
was
provided
by
Whitehouse
as
we
danced
the
night
away.
