The always popular 4th of July Fleet-In got off to a bang (ugh) with Cathy and Ralph’s famously delicious Mango Belini welcome drink served on the deck at Harbour Towers along with lunch consisting of a variety of different kinds of pizza.  Dock Master Jim assisted by co-leader Sandy Leathers provided yoman’s service in getting all the boats tied up and secured in their respective slips.

Friday afternoon was spent relaxing at the pool and doing what Royal Palmers do best; namely, enjoying each others company.

4th of July Fleet-In

Friday evenings dinner at the club consisted of an Oodles of Noodles pasta station manned by Jason,  Levon and Kemorr along with a well patronized Martini Slide sculpture.  Karaoke was the entertainment highlight of the evening where the audience was able to confirm why none of the participants had ever been seen on “American Idol”.

Saturday was another day of relaxing at the pool and lunching at the hot dog buffet before being summoned to the lounge by Cathy and Ralph for some mid-day entertainment.  The group was divided into two teams and began blowing up balloons which then had to be stuffed under oversized T shirts worn by the Gamauf’s great-granddaughter and friend who cautiously agreed to participate.  The object was to see which team could stuff the most balloons in the allotted time.  Other games followed and more prizes were awarded much to the enjoyment of all in attendance.

Saturday evening everyone donned their 4th of July festive attire and were treated to a lavish buffet featuring fall off the bone ribs and other sumptuous delights too numerous to mention.

After dinner everyone headed for the end of C Dock where Ralph had set up his sound system and provided a most enjoyable evening of listening entertainment.  Attention was focused on the purpose of this annual celebration on July 4th when Cathy delivered a patriotic recitation on the origin and significance of the American Flag.  In spite of the late arrival of fireworks, the evening proved to be another fun filled “blast” with fellow RPYC members.
