Santa came to visit with more than fifty (50) children and grandchildren of the Royal Palm Yacht Club family. Sunday was the Annual Children’s Christmas Party and the excitement level all around our Clubhouse was high. Following Commodore reports of an unusual radar sighting over the Caloosahatchee, all the children manned the patio decks to witness Santa arriving in our harbor by a beautifully decorated water sled. He made a grand entrance up the stairway to the atrium area to the cheers of children young and old. Santa was escorted to his special chair in the Edison Room next to the beautiful Teddy Bear Tree and the Royal Palm Express train. While happily seated (most of the time) on Santa’s lap, every child received a specially selected present and a teddy bear with blanket while being photographed for participating families and for our RPYC website. All of these festivities followed a wonderful RPYC Sunday Brunch. Much ice cream and cookies was available throughout the party.
Special thanks to Paula Williamsen who led the efforts to make the party event a success. The supporting cast of elves included wrappers Bonnie Barnhart, Ellen Schneider, Chris Burger and Diane Woodhouse; boat sled pilots Alan and Laurene Baum; Santa’s presents coordinators Linda Partilo and Ariana Bergmann; Photographers Marv Market and Rick Simon and photo assistants Pete Partilo, Katie Rigot and Kendall Mackay. As in past years, Win Larsen coordinated Past Commodores Mates Auxiliary (PCMA) efforts to hand make the teddy bears and blankets for each child. And of course, thank you Santa.
