The sixty fourth ( 64th ) edition of the Commodores’ Ball at Royal Palm Yacht Club was celebrated with over 140 members participating. This tradition filled event was conducted under the sponsorship of the RPYC Chapter of the Blue Gavel, chaired by Bob Minahan. The Past Commodores Mates Auxiliary provided an elegant touch to the evening with their beautiful silver and gold themed table decorations. Len Zych, as Master Of Ceremonies, did an outstanding job in guiding the proceedings to honor the leadership contributions of Commodores past and present. Again this year, the Cypress Lake High School R.O.T.C. unit provided their special precision support with the honor guard Presentation of the Colors and in manning the Arch of Sabers through which the Commodores and their spouses passed when being recognized. When addressing members in attendance, Commodore Williamsen took the opportunity to recognize his hard working team of Officers, Board Members and Chairpersons of Club Committees and key activities. He especially highlighted the “MVP” contribution of Membership Committee Co-Chairs Mary Lou and Dick Mullins for their most successful new member recruiting results. Additionally, he thanked his predecessor Commodores for their outstanding leadership in making the Royal Palm Yacht Club all that it is today and for the help in teaching and counseling him and his crew for success on this years’ voyage. Following cocktails and Hors d’ oeuvres in the Atrium and the Commodores ceremony, Club Manager Jason and his crew  treated members to a fine dinner featuring a duo plate of filet mignon and pan seared scallops. The talents of Billy Dean & Dawn provided an exceptional range of listening and dancing music to put their special touch on an evening of truly fine recognition, fellowship and fun.
