After several failed attempts to cross Lake O in previous years, Kris and Rich Weiner finally led a four week cruise to this famous old city.  Judy and Tim Jones and their dog "Casey"  and cat "KeyPurr" were great sports and went with the flow as this cruise's schedule had to be continuously altered as the level of water in Lake O declined and the decision was made to go through Marathon to get home rather than back across the Lake.
Chris and Len Burger, who had to cancel out of the trip at the last minute because of engine problems, were able to drive over and join us at several of the stops.  Doris and Bob Ferry even joined us for cocktails and dinner at Harbor Ridge YC.  In total, we stayed at eight Yacht Clubs, and were treated royally at each.
St Augustine Cruise
There were too many highlights to this trip to cover them all but we want to review some of them.
·         Dinner at the Florida Seafood Restaurant in Cocoa Beach was outstanding.
·         Our tour of the Kennedy Space Center was wonderful, but just not enough time to see everything we wanted to.
·         Our stay at Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast was fantastic.  We had never been there before and it was definitely "First Class".  The docks, the facilities, and the service were great.  We played golf at the Ocean Course and it was breath taking.
·         Our stay at Camachee Cove Yacht Harbor in St. Augustine, was a last minute change in reservations after talking to another boater on our way up to St. Augustine.  The main reason for the change was because they have two courtesy cars which we thought would come in handy.  As it turned out, the Burgers were able to join us so we had the use of their car.  But unbeknownst to us ahead of time, Tiger Woods and his 155' yacht "Privacy" were staying at this same marina, just across the channel from where we were docked.  We never saw Tiger, but we did see his wife and kids.  It made for a lot of excitement.
·         Our touring of St. Augustine included a narrated tour on the Little Red Train and such highlights as the Fountain of Youth (we drank from it), the old fort, and a tour of San Sebastian Winery.
·         Our stop in Daytona Beach included a tour of the Speedway which was very interesting.
·         We were at the Moorings YC on a Friday night and were very impressed with the turnout they had for their buffet.  There were dozens of people in and around the pool, including many young children.
·         At the Royal Palm Y & CC in Boca Raton, we were treated to "Zack Attacks" by the wonderful Marina Manager, Zack Rice.   The office/bar that he constructed down by the fuel dock was really a neat idea.
We really lucked out with the weather.   We had a few little showers during the day and some night time rain, but managed to stay a day or so ahead of the heavy rain that caused flooding in places like Daytona Beach.
In summary, it was a great trip.
