GULF HARBOUR GET-AWAY WEEKEND

There were 8 boats attending the Gulf Harbour annual cruise.  The cruisers included Phil & Ann Johnston (Cats Paw), Len & Chris Burger (Cristina), Rich & Kris Weiner (Utopia), Chester & Pam Blackford (Flamingo), Jim & Sharon McKinley (The S.M. Sea), Ray Kanehl & Dee Pogrebniak (Rays Day), Gary & Kathy Tapken (Jersey Girl III), and Tom & Lynn Laskey (Ocean Romance).  The weekend brought some much needed relief for Southwest’s Florida rain deficit with heavy showers both on Friday and Saturday.  Events began with cocktails and dinner at Johnny Brown’s restaurant.  Joining the group were David Bernstein and Rich Geib. Saturday morning commenced with a breakfast at the Joneses condo.  It was a great way to start the day with plenty of food and great views of the Caloosahatchee River.  Unfortunately the heavy rains of the night before prevented the golfers from teeing off.  But the day did clear and offered everyone the opportunity to spend time at the pool and do a little touring of the grounds.  Dinner was held at the Paramount’s party room and was a splendid cooperative effort of all the boaters.  The entertainment included a spectacular shower which must have added at least 2” to the water reserves.  Sunday the sun came out again and allowed for a sunny trip home.  Thank you everyone for helping out and making the job of being a cruise leader very easy.
