Moss Marina Cruise |
Early arrivals, Burgers, Grecos and Guveiyians, got a head start with a sunny and somewhat windy arrival on Thursday. The cruise to Moss Marine at Matanzas Pass
officially began Friday, March 12, with March winds and what seemed like ALL of
April’s showers arriving in March. A few of our hardiest sailors, Fleet Captain Phil and Ann Johnston and Rear Commodore Pat Roush, with Buddy, arrived during and after Friday’s mini-hurricane. Many of our group drove in that evening for dinner at Nervous Nellie’s’ (former Snug Harbor) Grand Opening.
Saturday morning brought the sunshine and RPYC was ably represented in the Festival’s 5K race across the bridge by R/C “Speedy” Roush. The 52nd Annual Shrimp Festival, Parade and Food and Crafts Expo went on as planned with sunny skies, as the balance of our cruisers arrived throughout the morning. Saturday evening, and back by popular demand, Chef’s Gene and Charlie, prepared their signature chili and Italian sausage with peppers and onions sandwiches. Make your own, hot fudge/caramel sundaes finished the meal and a rousing game of Farkel had all participants vying for prizes.
Another sunny day on Sunday began with bagels, salmon, eggs, fruit and much more before most of us headed for home and some of us stayed to enjoy another beautiful day and night at the beach.
