Fisherman's Village Cruise
|
Fifteen RPYC boats rendezvoused at Fishermen’s Village on Friday, April 9th for a weekend of fun, food, and frolic. These included Bob & Sue Fisher aboard Fender Bender, Rich & Carol Geib, and Tom & Lynn Laskey aboard Severence Package, Sharon & Jim McKinley aboard The SM Sea, Shirley & Ed Hatter aboard Mad Hatter, Nancy & Wes Judd aboard Catalyst, Liz & Len Zych aboard Yacht Z, Gail & Hal West aboard West Wind, Bonnie & Jim Barnhart aboard Serenity Found, Kris & Rich Weiner aboard Utopia, Gail and David Bernstein aboard Tonto’s Reward, Debbie & Fred Mann aboard Knot a Clue, and new members Kay & Jerry Smith aboard Double Fun. Mary Ann and Jim Merrill drove up in time for docktails on Friday, and everyone enjoyed a great dinner at The Captain’s Table (Be sure to ask the Hatters what they thought of the seafood bar!). Royal Palm midnight arrived at the usual 9:00 PM, but some diehards stuck it out and enjoyed after dinner refreshments and conversation on their aft decks. Saturday morning, cruise leaders Sherri & Phil, and Chris & Len prepared a pancake, sausage, and bacon breakfast for the group in the boater’s lounge. After breakfast, some folks hung around the harbor, while others rode bikes, or shopped. At 5:30 PM it was once again time for docktails and appetizers, followed by a barbeque beef brisket dinner with all of the great salads, sides, and desserts provided by the cruise leaders and participants. Following continental breakfast the next morning, everyone was ready to leave, but Mother Nature was not cooperating. A large storm came through Southwest Florida, delaying almost everyone from departing. However, everyone made the most of it. Kris Weiner, Lindsey Scheinert, and Liz Zych played a great game of Mahjong, while the rest visited until the weather subsided. At about 1:30 PM some of the fleet departed for home, while others departed for their next cruise to Venice, Marina Jack’s and Sarasota with the Hatter’s and Barnhart’s IRS ReFUNed Cruise.
