The
weekend,
which
was in
doubt
because
of a
tropical
storm
Nicole,
turned
out to
be one
of the
finest
weekends
in quite
awhile.
As a
result
twenty-four
RPYC
members
on
twelve
boats
journey
to
Naples
Sailing
and
Yacht
Club on
Friday.
Friday
evening,
in
keeping
with the
spirit
of
Oktoberfest,
members
were
greeted
by one
or more
cold
glasses
of
German
beer at
the
Yacht
Club
dock
gazebo.
Of
course
no
Oktoberfest
celebration
would be
complete
without
sauerkraut,
brats
and
backed
beans.
The
brats
were
from a
special
Clausen
family
recipe.
After
dinner
we
continued
to enjoy
each
other’s
company
over a
“vodka”
watermelon
and
homemade
cookies.
Saturday
morning
started
out with
the
traditional
Bloody
Marys
and
mimosas
followed
by chef
Linda’s
waffles
with
Vermont
maple
syrup
and
fresh
fruit
along
with
breakfast
sausage.
The rest
of the
day was
spent
biking,
swimming
in the
pool ,
dingying
and of
course
shopping
by some
of the
ladies.
That
evening
we all
got
together
again
under
the
gazebo
for
libations
and
snacks.
This
time we
were
joined
by
twelve
Royal
Palm
land
cruisers
along
with
three
cruises
who were
staying
at the
Naples
Yacht
Club – a
total of
thirty
nine
members.
We then
moved
indoors
to the
Yacht
Club for
dinner.
The food
and
service
were, as
usual,
outstanding.
After
dinner
some
adjourned
to the
lounge
for more
libations
and
conversation.
Sunday
morning
a
continental
breakfast
was
served.
The
cruisers
then
departed
at their
leisure.
The
cruise
leaders
could
not have
asked
for a
better
group to
be with.
Thanks
to
everyone
for
their
support. |
