with all the “breaking news” at our Club we have decided to include an update with each weekly Sunday e-Mail News

please plan on attending our Special Membership Meeting this Tuesday February 21st at 5:30PM .. at our meeting we will update you with the current financial and membership status of our Club and we will be asking the membership to take action to mitigate our Club's anticipated year-end shortfall .. ie we will be voting on the special Infusion Fund payment to cover our Club's projected operations deficit thru September 31st ..

if you are planning to stay for dinner after the meeting please make your dinner reservation ASAP ..
 Equity Membership Committee and our Management Committee have been diligently working on a number of different programs in an effort to resolve our 'proposed operations deficit' issue .. however, there remains MUCH work to do before we have this issue resolved .. and thus in order in to insure the continue and uninterrupted operations of our Club we are asking our membership to approve the $700.00 per member payment into the Infusion Fund .. (see letter to left) hopefully we will have this issue resolved by our fiscal year end ..

again, we wish to remind you that our membership is what it is all about .. with each new member we can rebuild our membership and our 'proposed operations deficit' issue will go away .. on Sunday February 26th we will have our next New Member Open House ..please mark your calendar .. if you know of anyone that is a potential member now is the time to contact them and let them know of our new membership programs .. we have many new programs to chose from ..

Army Corps of Engineers Meeting on Thursday, February 16, 2012 in Clewiston, Florida addressed the closure of the Moore Haven Lock from April 2 - May 25, 2012 to install a manatee protection system. This system detects the manatee and prevents the gates from closing and harming the protected animal.

after hearing the economic and recreational concerns expressed at last
night's meeting, the Corps has adjusted the scheduled lock closure to reduce
the impact to the local communities," said Lt. Col. Michael Kinard, deputy
district commander. "This timeframe will allow the lock to remain open
further into the boating season, while allowing us to complete the
installation at the beginning of the hurricane season when the risk is low."

the adjustment comes after local business owners, recreational boaters and
residents expressed concerns about closing the locks earlier in the spring
due to heavy usage of the facilities.

This year, 2012, the Royal Palm Yacht Club will be observing 65 years in existence. This will be a milestone year for the Club. It will also be a challenging year.

To continue our wonderful traditions and rebuild the Club’s profitability, we really need your help in recruiting new members. We are counting on all RPYC members to support us as we navigate the numerous hurdles we face in the coming months. As a member of RPYC, we recognize you are our most valued and important asset as each member can bring vitality, innovation and fresh ideas along with their friends and family to our Club.

With our ongoing efforts to strengthen our membership base we really need your help and participation in our recruiting efforts this year. In this regard we are pleased to announce RPYC's new membership recruitment program .. the Commodore's Club.

With the Commodores Club we wish to recognize and acknowledge the efforts of our members who continue to work so diligently to recruit new members into our Club .. Also, in order to continue to foster the spirit of friendship and camaraderie for which our club has long been known and promote the value of working together to achieve our membership goals we hope each member will be a goodwill ambassador of our Club by making everyone feel welcome with a warm smile and outstretched hand.

When you as a member in good standing of RPYC are successful in introducing new members to our Club just complete the 
Commodore's Club application ( get a copy from Phyllis) and you will be rewarded and recognized as a member of our Commodore's Club .. as a member of the Commodore's Club you will receive a Commodore's Club pin, $50.00 Dining Gift Certificate as well as being invited to our Commodore's Club recognition events ..
