The New Year was welcomed in with a passion at the Royal Palm Yacht Club. It was the “Purple Passion Ball” and was enjoyed by over 140 party goers. Hosts for the event were Commodore Chuck Williamsen and his wife, Paula. Following cordial greetings by the Doorman it was on to cocktails in the Atrium along with tasty hand passed Hors d’oeuvres and fine piano sounds. The Wheelhouse and Edison Dining rooms were elegantly decorated with a purple & gold theme that was evident from the attractive table linens on up to ceiling above the dance floor where many colorful balloons awaited the big “drop” at year‑end. Music was by the “Phantastic Sounds” who entertained with classic show tune vocals while dinner was being served and then kicked it up a few notches for everyone’s dancing pleasure to bring in the New Year. The menu progressed through six (6) courses including a lobster bits martini appetizer, classic onion soup flambe’, a baby romaine hearts salad with gorgonzola sprinkles and peppercorn drizzle, grape sobetto intermezzo and a fine duo plate entre of filet mignon and Chilean sea bass. Desert was a white chocolate ganache cake with raspberry mousse filling and raspberry puree’. Decorative purple and gold table centerpieces were designed and produced by Paula Williamsen and featured a sparkling gilded ball that could be dropped as part of the countdown celebration. Champagne flowed and the New Year was ushered in. An “after-glow” in the atrium with gourmet coffees, passion grape drops and luscious purple mousse minis helped to wrap up another special night at the Royal Palm.
